4 Easy Steps to Make Your Flowers Last

Garden style bouquet winter
Valentine’s Day is around the corner, which is the perfect time to get a refresher on how to make your flowers last. Even if you only do one of the below steps, I guarantee it help your flowers look better than doing nothing at all!

Why should I bother taking care of my flowers if they'll die anyway?

As soon as flowers are cut from the ground, they lose access to water, food and growth regulators. Simply giving flower food can help extend the vase life of your flowers by 60% versus water alone! (Chrysal, n.d.). I also like to think of flower care as a thank you to the person who got you the flowers.

Top Tips for Getting Married in 2021

Fall Elopement Mountains Flowers
Happy New Year friends!! 2020 was a memorable one (for better or for worse) and as much as we just want to move on, a bit of reflection is always healthy.

For the first post of 2021, I thought it'd be super relevant to tackle, "how should I plan my 2021 wedding?!" After so many postponements, micro weddings, and elopements, 2021 weddings are looking very different.

To paint a picture of one possibility, imagine this. You hike at sunrise to a first look and overlook the beautiful fall foliage and a lake. This is followed by an epic brunch picnic at the most scenic and secluded waterfall. After a little break, you do a sunset hike and then have someone transform your AirBnB for an intimate dinner. You end the night with a bonfire, beers and stargazing. I know right, this can be... my... wedding?!
Well friends, this actually happened and I interviewed the two masterminds who made this incredible event happen! Meet Kelsey Converse (Elopement Photographer), and Danielle Rand, Owner of Grandest Gatherings (Event Planner of Intimate and Adventure Weddings) who gave us the scoop on 2021 weddings.

New Home, New Neighbors and Flower Deliveries

Casseroles and Flowers

Remember a time when people used to drop off casseroles or cookies when someone moved into their neighborhood?

Ever since we moved, it has been my little project to get to know our neighbors through flower deliveries. Maybe it's the pandemic and you kind of have to put yourself out there to find community. Maybe it's the fact that having a kid is a good icebreaker. Or, maybe it's because my dear friend made 54 bananas worth of banana bread for her neighbors (!!!). Whatever the reason, it's been a pretty sweet way to connect with people.

So, here are my top 3 most favorite flower deliveries of 2020!

Transform a $20 grocery store bouquet into a Thanksgiving centerpiece

Holidays and birthdays have a looked pretty different in 2020 with smaller dinner gatherings, video calls and backyard visits... Even in the midst of a pandemic, I hope the spirit of celebration, family, and traditions won't stop you this season. If you normally decorate your house, decorate it! If you want to get flowers for your very intimate Thanksgiving dinner, do it!

Grocery store flowers looking a little awkward?

I first had the idea of how to arrange grocery store flowers from my mom... (sorry mom). After a quick trim of the stems, she would plop it into a vase and it would look something like the picture on the right. Notice how most of the flowers are about the same height and it just looks a little stalky and awkward?

So mom (and everyone else), transform your grocery store bouquet into a beautiful Thanksgiving centerpiece with the steps below.

There is hope to avoid this awkward, stalky look!

Floral Inspiration, Education and a Sprinkle of Real Life Talk

Soft summer bridal bouquet
Hey guys!
I'm Tiffany from Grace Flora Studio and pumped to share the beautiful world of flowers and the design behind it all.

If you are reading this for the first time and never heard of GFS, here is a little intro:

I am a full-time mom diving into the floral world. I am focusing this year on learning, connecting, taking chances, and practice! You can get the full story here or follow me on Instagram.

What you'll find in Grace Flora Journal

Inspiration - You will find a behind-the-scenes look at some of my most inspired pieces as well as favorite florists from across the globe that I am most inspired by.

Education - How do I arrange grocery store flowers? How do I make a garden style, flowy bouquet? These were questions I started with too and I'm excited to share what I've learned. Mayesh and Team Flower are some of my favorite resources.

Sprinkle of real life talk - As a mom of a young toddler, there are soo many unglamorous, humbling moments. You'll see glimpses of my life in motherhood and things that I am passionate about like self-care and investing in people.

Are there topics you want to learn about? I'd love to hear from you! Drop a comment or leave a direct message here.
